I was glad to see the old guy back.....he is a warrior with a lot to offer. What do fans think?

he had a good last season and i hate for him to have not shaken hands with his opponents on his last ever NHL game...that would have been disgraceful. of coarse now the wings run the risk of having him landed on IR for most of the season with a broken hip.

He got beat up by a goalie (Ron Hextall) when he was in his prime with the Canadiens, so I'm not sure the "warrior" title fits too well. ;)

Chelly's an amazing athlete in top physical condition, but he's ultimately a me first, bad attitude player. He plays with an edge that I can appreciate; but I think he crosses the line a lot and gets away with it due to his "seniority" in the league. I've never liked him personally, but I can see how the home town fans would love him. So it's a good deal for Detroit.

Let's just hope he stays away from USA Hockey, since they seem to feel obligated to give him the 'C' just for showing up. The team in Turin was directionless and it had a lot to do with Chelly and his lack of discipline when playing international hockey. His style works with NHL officials, but not on the big ice.

I think it's amazing. He's turning 46 in January and he's still playing. How many people that age are still playing besides Julio Franko, Barry Bonds, Martina Navratilova and Karch Kiraly?

I loved him when he played with the habs, (his brother was my lab partner in high school lol) anyhow...I kind of lost some respect for him on his last game this season...he acted like a 5 year old by not shaking hands.

I think it's great. He is still a very good hockey player and as long as he can contribute, I think he should play. Kudos to the Red Wings for re-signing him.

Let's hear it for the old man!!

I'm glad to see him back for another season.

But I am disappointed in him for not shaking hands.

He's a solid defenseman. He can still work the blue-line, and he's great at the poke check. If he keeps playing like he did this postseason, he's more than welcome on my team, regardless of his age.

I admire him as a player.

Cheliousaurus is so old he origianally played for the Tar Pit League, his stick was a carved Wooly Mammoth tusk, and the puck was a chiseled piece of tar. When they started using wooden sticks it was an upgrade for him. ;)

I think he may have stayed too long, he's not the guy he once was and it shows. Maybe the price was right but can't they come up with any young guys?
