yes, they both transmit only video, which is kinda why they come from the VIDEO card, not the SOUND card
S-video (also known as TV-out or HDTV-out) goes to a TV
DVI is digital
VGA is analog
VGA is getting phased out, tho (look at the GeForce 8800 series)
