Yeah i think it is. I hate both the Red Sox and the Yankees and i am sick of Sportcenter. All they show is the headcases in all of sports and all the stupid people like TO, Kobe Bryant, and Barry Bonds. I have stoped watching Sportcenter and i watch Comcast Sportsnet in my area becaues that is like the local sportcenter but it is just local stuff like the Phillies and the Eagles.

Just like any other business ESPN is going to follow the money. The Red Sox and Yankees are both big market solid teams that generate a lot of fan interest. Therefore, ESPN has not become a big commercial for those teams they are just smart business men.

Basically yes. But they do things that cater to the majority of fans. Those 2 teams have the most fans and even non-baseball fans can understand when you talk about them. ESPN's goal is to acquire more ratings so they can get even more money from sponsors. The best way to do that is to cover the hell out of teams that more people know about and to discuss non-sports crap like the Sopranos final episode to keep the casual fan interested in something they probably do know about. So you see Yankees/Red Sox in baseball, Lakers for basketball, & Cowboys during football season. It was like ESPN's dream come true when T.O. was traded to the Cowboys or ARod went to the yankees. I seem to recall Kobe's crying about wanting a trade getting more coverage than the NBA Finals. Hockey's an afterthought for them now so it barely gets talked about. They only talk more about Nascar and Arena football because they cover those 2 things and make money off of them.

Yeah, it seems like that. However, the Yankees and Red Sox make up half of all MLB merchandise sold. Some would say ESPN is giving people what they want, or some, including me, would say they are manufacturing all of it. This is how ridiculous it is, the Red Sox were just here (Phoenix) playing the D-backs. All these lame Red Sox "fans" were chanting "Yankees suck" the whole time. It's like first of all, the Yankees aren't here. Second, you guys aren't even from Boston. I'm so tired of both of these teams.

The redsox and Yankees are the biggest rivalry in sports history so of course ESPN is going to hop on the band wagon and show those games cause they have the most ratings. Apparently the last sunday night game that they played had the most ratings ever for ESPN Sunday night baseball. I think this saga will continue so sit back and enjoy it, i know will.
GO SOX!!

Every time time I am watching TV with my parents (we are a big baseball family) and they say, "is there anything on espn other than the yankes or res sox playing?" It is rediculous. And to be honest, Yankees and sox arent even a real rivalry. Its just fighting, not playing. The cardinals and the cubs or Giants and Dodgers are more exciting because there is more of a history. yanks sox were more of a manufactored rivalry made by who else, but ESPN. And derik h, be a cardinal fan then, lol.

Yeah, it basically has turned into the Yankees and Red Sox personal network. But if that generates more revenue for those 2 teams to give to other teams like my beloved Royals through revenue sharing, I'm all for it.

Its all about the ratings. Also, if they didnt cover them, I would never get to see my Yanks since I live in Missouri, so its good for me to see 30 games or so a year without having to subscribe to mlb.tv to watch them all.
