Yes your teacher is right. In the 19th, mostly 20th century, there were a large amount of European countries that moved into Africa and carved it up to exploit the continents natural resources. The French, Dutch, German, English, etc. set up colonies in Africa but did not necessarily mix in with the natives. Til this day, you will see people that are white, yet African, because their families have been there for many generations. Ever heard of Dave Matthews? He's a white African. Some are called Afrikaners. Hope this helped.

Anyone born in Africa, no matter what color they are, are considered Africans. Like in America, black people are called African American to be politically correct. However, not all black people are from Africa, so it is an insult to those that do not come from there.

Didn't you ever hear of the country South Africa? Not all africans are blacks!!! There are plenty of "white africans."
