ok i don't know my bra size from the busts is 42 and under the busts is 39 so what size am i

I've been professionally fitted at Intimacy boutique (which is the same people that Oprah has on her show to do bra fittings.) I was taught that the your band size should be exactly the same as your measurement under your bust (but round up 1 if you get an uneven number.) So if you measure under your bust at 39, then you should wear a 40.

The cup is determined by taking the around the bust measurement (42 in your case). Subtract the under bust number from the around the bust number (42-39=3). The difference determines your cup size (1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=E). So you are a 40C.

This is how the European bra companies do their sizing, which is much more accurate than American companies. I have followed this method since I learned it 7+ years ago, and my bras always fit perfectly.

You can go get measured for free at Victoria Secrets, or any other place. But from what I know, that sounds like a 44C. You get that by adding 5 to the underbust measurement for the band size, and taking the difference in sizes, 42-39=3, and 3" difference is a C cup.
