Between Gonzalez's version of pleading the 5th and them "losing" 5000 emails, I cannot fathom how people can rationalize this away.
You know how difficult it is to "lose" that many emails? And emails don't just disappear on their own.
Something is rotten in Denmark.

Because then they can't be pinned down to a specific answer, and therefore can't be held accountable.
Bottom line is, they're lying. They can recall the memory - they just don't want to admit it. And nobody can prove otherwise.
Just remember who a politician represents - themselves. They don't really care about your opinions - their sole concern is getting re-elected. In doing so, they need to pi$$ off the fewest people they can - and saying "I don't recall" does it.

They use it so that later when a reporter brings up old footage of them speaking about something they now suddenly "Can't Recall" They haven't technically lied about it.

Because you can't be charged with perjury and you don't have to answer the question.
Obviously most know the answer, just like Rice did, and Gonzales did when he lied!

Because it's the safeist. Guessing and then turning out to be wrong can get you in a lot of trouble. Just ask Scooter Libby. And it's not just politicians that do it.

It's a viable defense. If you are a busy person, like a politician, can you remember every conversation you have with people, or what you read and/or sign? Of course not.

Because human beings are imperfect and do not remember everything.
Now some use this as a cover for not wanting to disclose something.
