If you are speaking about being a wildlife rehabilitator, it helps, but it is not necessary. But you must pass a test to get your license, and that requires a lot of study.

If you just want to volunteer at a wildllife rehabilitation facility, all you need is a willingness to learn and the ability to follow directions, even if you don't agree with them or understand the need for them. The licensed rehabilitator has the training to know what to do, and the life of an animal might depend on you doing what you're told, immediately, then ask questions about the "whys and wherefores" later.

If you are talking about a job with pets, most positions, from veterinarian to veterinary nurse or vet tech, require a college degree. The best you could hope for without a college degree would probably be a receptionist in a vet's office, or a job cleaning out kennels.

If you truly desire a career with animals, it is best to go to college.

It depends on how you want to go about helping these animals hundreds of animals require foster parents until they can be adopted and a local humane society will employ you without any degree at all. How ever if you wish to work with animals medicaly or to be the primary care taker in an animal "foster family" you must have a high school diploma and or a collage degree

Depends on what you want to do with the animals, and how much pay you want.

There are always animal shelters and wildlife rehab centres looking for volunteers to help look after animals - feed them, clean out cages, etc.

Most of them would be happy for the assistance, regardless of your educational background.

But if you want to actually be a veterinarian, or run a similar centre, then a college degree, or even higher might be necessary.

Nope. You can volunteer at a shelter for injured animals. Don't expect to make any money treating animals that aren't pets.

You don't need a degree from college to make a collage, either. You just need some magazines, scissors, and rubber cement (try not to sniff it too much).

Probably because, you have to go to college to become a vet and working with injured, abandoned or endangered animals you have to have the skills you learn to become a vet.
