Face it: There are tons of people with good looks and acting skills out there. A few of my drama classmates can act better than most of those on TV. But these three things separate the Hollywoods from the rest:
1. They have a desire to be a Hollywood actor. Just to warn you, the star life might not be as glorious as you think.
2. They have "star quality". This means they like the attention, and have to charisma to keep it.
3. This is the most difficult of all, but also the most important. These days, stars are "discovered" mainly through RELATIONS. Talent agents help, but good luck on this one.
Wish you all the best on whatever you decide to pursue.

Well, if you look like Keanu Reeves but can act, unlike him, looks like you might do alright.
Have you considered the stage? Less flash and more acting. Hollywood is in bad shape right now, so you'd be just as well off doing television or ads if you want the publicity. Movies have become an extension of corporate marketing. Don't believe me? Watch any mainstream movie that's come out recently and count the products (Coke cans, McDonald's signs, etc) that are mentioned or appear in the background and you'll get it.

Being good looking does help. But what you really need is talent. I would like to suggest that you take some acting classes and go to a few auditions. Also you should try getting some head shots. And send them to all of the major movie studios. And you should get yourself a good talent agent.

uh, no. Let's say you and another guy where in a race. you had the looks, and the other guy had the talent. the talent guy would always win because being successful is not about if you can fit into a size 2. it's about talent.
looks are always something you can get, but if you don't have talent, you don't have a chance.

Nope. There are tons of roles made for the dopey underdog, the geek loser, the gaming roommate. There are tons of roles out there, for every one. You just have to find them, and work hard to earn them, and even more, to keep them. Personally, I like those characters better most of the time.

No, but you have to be serious about it and treat it like a real job. Look at yourself and see what kind of roles do you think you could play. Look at yourself and think, is this what I really want to do?
