A show I watch recently had their season finale and I was wondering how long it usually takes takes before the DVD comes out. Any ideas?

It usually takes from the day after the show airs, to several years.
DVD sets of TV series are usually released in the fall, in time for the holiday shopping season, and also to promote the new season of the show. In special circumstances (if a long running series has ended or it was a very popular show), most or all of the shows in that season will be released on DVD sooner.
Most TV shows take a long time to release DVD sets, and some haven't released any at all up to this point. It's usually the cause of copyright and personal release issues, as they need permission from the rightsholders of the music used in each episode, and they need permission from the agencies who represent the actors and celebrities who appeared on the show, before they can release it on DVD. If there is also an issue as to who holds the rights to the show (usually the cause of corporate acquisitions or library transfers) that will delay the DVD release further.

It varies by show. Many will take up to one year, but some are available sooner than that. Release dates may be shorter or longer depending upon the time of year. For example, some of the hottest shows will be released to coincide with Christmas shopping so that they make more money.
I would watch the fan web sites to see what release dates are coming up. There should be plenty of hype and talk before hand.

it takes a couple mounhts like 4-5 at least maybe a year at the most
