When I was 12, I got 3 shots. My mom says that 1 was an anemia test and it came back negative. Was I supposed to get 3 shots or was she lying.

At the age of twelve, you were probably receiving booster immunizations. The most common are Hepatitis B, Meningitis, and Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis.

If they were checking for anemia, they could have done this by a simple blood draw; it would never have been done by injection.

If you had a shot such as for protection against Hepatitis B or other conditions they can come in a series of 3 shots (another example of this and this may be the one she's talking about is the vaccine to protect against HPV-a precancerous condition-called Gardasil).

When they check for anemia the needle that is used actually draws blood.

I would recommend also talking to your mom to ask her to explain further what she meant and let her know that you want to know more about this because you are confused.

Unless blood was drawn it was not an anemia test. There are a lot of shots that come in series so if you had the three at different times it could have been one of those series. Such as a series for hepatitis or the HPV vaccine.

When they test you for anemia they draw your blood so... Sorry but I think so.
