I'm getting both a bass a electric guitar. i don't want to buy to different amps. is it possible to use a y-cable and plug in a bass or electric guitar into my av receiver (it has good Bose speakers)? and if not will a bass blow a guitar amp? Thanks!

You could probably play, but not at any sort of volume. And I don't think I'd plug both in at once anyway. It's likely that you could take out the amp if the impedence is wrong.

A bass shouldn't blow a guitar amp unless you're really overdriving it, but the sound won't be as good as an amp rated for the lower frequencies.

ps There's no such thing as good Bose Speakers.
