The land of the midnight sun is a place where the sun is shining at midnight. There are only two areas on earth where that will happen: (1) north of the Arctic Circle, or (2) south of the Antarctic Cirlce. They would experience 24 hours of daylight during their respective summer solstice on June 21 or Dec 21, respectively.

The earth's axis of rotation is not perpendicular to the earth's plane of rotation around the sun. Therefore, the length of the day (defined as the time that the sun is above a horizontal horizon) varies during the year. Quite often people refer to the "land of the midnight sun" as anywhere that it is light at midnight, even though it may only be twilight. To be technically correct, the sun must be above the horizon for a minimum of 24 consecutive hours. That is why the Arctic Circle and the Antarctic Circle are at 66° 33' north and south respectively.

During the summer solctice in the northern "land of the midnight sun," the sun doesn't set, it just makes a big circle in the sky. It reaches its maximum height above the horizon at noon in the southern sky, and its lowest height at midnight in the southern sky.

The summer solstice sounds attractive, but you need to remember the same place that is called the land of the midnight sun in summer, is also the land of mid-day darkness in winter! Every place on earth, averaged over a year, receives the exact same amount of daylight.

The southern hemisphere has very little land mass south of the Antarctic Circle. Therefore, places that are typically called the "land of the midnight sun" include Alaska, Yukon, most of Canada's Arctic, Lapland, and northern Russia.

Hey...the regron is the arctic and antarctic or better known as the north and south poles....this is simply due to the earths rotation and the fact that the earths axis is tilted 23 1/2 degrees. The "tilt" makes the sun's track in the northern and southern most skyies appear to roll around the horizon but never sink below it. The "midnight sun" comes from the fact that the sun never sets in these locations...In alaska this also ocurrs but only during the solstace (twice per year) because the latitude of alaska is farther south than the pole....hope that helps

If you are on the Arctic circle on the Summer Solstice or the Antarctic circle on the Winter Solstice, the sun will not disappear below the horizon at midnight. It's path from midnight to midnight will be a circle in the sky.

If you are closer to the North or South pole, this occurs not just on the Solstice but also on days near the solstice; the closer to the pole you are, the longer your period of continuous daylight.

If you're actually on the pole, the sun will be visible in the sky from Equinox to Equinox (Spring to Fall at the North pole; Fall to Spring at the South pole).

It could be sunny out at 12:00 midnight because of their position on the Earth related to the sun.

Did you notice that days get longer in summer? Well, this tendency becomes greater, the farther north you go. In the arctic circle, night's dark time doesn't last very long -- the sun sets very late at night and rises very early in the morning. My friend Johnny tells a story of watching the sun set, then watching it rise only a couple of hours later, in Alaska.

Still assuming no "WWE" advantage: Terry Funk. As I said before, if he couldn't out-wrestle you he'd out-fight you. If he couldn't out-fight you, he'd out-"crazy" you. Bret Hart. Hate to see Dynamite leave so soon, but the Hitman would just out-wrestle him and make him tap to the Sharpshooter. Sting. A little better wrestler than Savage, I think. Sting would win by submission to the Scorpion Deathlock. Chris Benoit. Damn...what a match-up! Chris' strength advantage would be the difference here. Dean would eventually tap to the Crippler Crossface. Kurt Angle. As great as Owen was, so is Kurt. Kurt's meaner and more ferocious. No submission here, Kurt would just have to wear Owen out and pin him. Hulk Hogan. Hogan CAN wrestle. He's bigger and stronger than Austin, too. The Undertaker. Shawn's good, real good. I just think the Undertaker can beat him. Ric Flair. Flair had no trouble out-wrestling the big guys. The Rock would be no different.

because during the summer, the sun is still out, this region would be located around the north pole and south pole.
