Yes, this is a classic case of flip flopping.

They only like Hollywood Actors if they tell them what they want to hear, whether it's the truth or not.

As to the weather vane remark try
http://www.softwar.net/hrc.html
Hillary's record of flip flops and I can not recall
Senate.Gov has a more complete list of all those
who participate in the game.
Most politicians are incredible public speakers
and actors in their own right. What they do as a real
job usually does not get press. As a professional SAG actor Thompson faces the slander but there is always something to hook on to.
In my opinion former Senator Thompson has a strong chance
to bring on a fight to the Hillbill machine. So far no one else can come close. Obama joins with the Clintons say hello to more war, problems and lies as usual. She could not get healthcare in line as a First Lady. She could not keep her husband in line as a woman. How can she run a country. OH I forgot, she is a poor Senator representing the good state of New York. Now there is a flip flop for the books. Re-elect me so I can run and be gone from the Hill and never care about a bill.

Actually, it's the other way around. Hollywood actors are largely liberals and some of them, like Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Barbra Striesand, etc. are extreme leftists, with a strong dislike of conservatives and authority figures. Fonda showed her traitorous colors during the Vietnam war.

Some conservative Hollywood actors, like Tom Selleck and Charlton Hesston (a truly great actor, equal to the role of Marc Antony in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar", in addition to being cast as Moses and Ben Hur in other epics), have been badly treated by the Hollywood liberals.

Can you imagine Hesston or anyone else having any respect for Michael Moore after the way Moore treated him when Hesston contracted Alzheimer's disease and had to retire?

The liberals oppose both of these men for no other reason than the fact that they have both been active in the National Rifle Association. Hesston was President and Selleck serves on the Board of Directors.

Republicans typically dislike Hollywood because actors and such are typically liberal - not Republican people.

Reagan was their kind of people, as is Thompson. And as anyone knows, a person can't be taught to "interact with the camera". Actors have that charisma that is captured on camera, and if that means furthering your own party, then they will take the guy that is acting and is for their party.

It's not flip-flopping; it's a question about over simplification. Celebrities are often insulated from real life by large amounts of money, and many of them compensate by preaching Marxism (Republicans generally dislike Communism), and they generally shoot off their mouths parroting liberal group-think and propaganda.

Both Reagan (a former union boss) and Thompson established their credentials for civic participation and leadership. They were not voted into office just because they had star power.

Hence, in their cases, it's not flip-flopping. Even the Governor Arnie was voted into office because he ran on a set of principles and ideas while the liberal sitting governor was operating by polls and every whim that blew across his desk.

This is not to defend Republicans. I'm registered Libertarian, just to voice my dissatisfaction with both major parties.

No, not flip-flopping. When you say republicans dislike Hollywood, what they dislike is the extreme left wing views most of them espouse. Neither Reagan nor Thompson hold these views.

How can that be flip flopping, when their views of Hollywood have not changed since Reagan?

Why?................Because most voters like and respect them and they happen to be republican. Why not use all of your assets? Wouldn't you like it if a very visible, well liked and respected actor was on your side?

Republicans "Top" President is Lincoln. Reagan is a very close second.
