Yes, and your teacher should have warned you before now. You have to be prepared for the smell. The scent of formaldehyde is awful. You can purchase a small mask and put just a tiny bit of perfumed lotion or mist it with perfume before you begin work, if the teacher will allow. USE gloves if she will let you....the odor penetrates your skin and will be there even after washing. You can try lemon juice if she doesn't allow gloves and that will help to cut the scent on your hands. Go online and look at some of the pictures from a frog dissection so that you are prepared for what you will see when you work in class. It's a very important learning experience, but if you are queasy, then you need to let your teacher know in advance. I've been teaching English for 19 years and almost every year I hear about a kid who didn't speak up...and hit the floor in a faint when they were working in lab.

1. The smell of formadehyde will make you gag. Be strong. I'm not even kidding about this next part: put some kind of good smelling perfume, air freshner, scent, anything on your shoulder so that you can sniff it if the frog smell gets too overwhelming.

2. When you cut the frog open, be wary of any juices that might goosh out all over the place. That's what happened with the rat I dissected and I retched over the trash can (didn't actually throw up, but it wasn't fun.)

Good luck =T

when i was in the college i have dissect the frog and all those taken have taken biology have to do the dissection till the third year i.e.till the graduation it is there we have to do dissection on the life frog so that we can study the different system in the living it is done in the form to gain the knowledge so when u do see that u r taking a live to learn something it doesn't bite as it doesn't have teeth hand its is not a reptile it is an amphibian that lives on land as well as in water the dissection have to be done on live frog or sedate because his system is working but if it is dead one it will have no use u cant study any thing

The only thing i've ever dissected was a pig's eye...it was really cool, not at all as gross as i expected, or as bad as they said! the only thing i didn't like was the smell.
But if you'r cutting it yourself, be carful with the knife...you don't want to suddenly look down and wonder what happened to the FROG....

There tends to be a smell, but that should be the least of your worries. Be careful when you open the frog- its "juice" might squirt out. Also, be careful with the gallbladder (it breaks easily). And when you're cutting away the lungs from the heart, be careful not to snip away at a ventricle. It's not that bad, honestly.
