I am going to upgrade my moms computer to 1 GB of RAM....its an older pentium 4 celeron (Intel 845GL chipset) right now only has 128 MB and Windows XP can barely run!

Might run a little bit slowly. But so long as the computer has what you specified. 2.5ghz and 1 gig of Ram. It should work out ok

No I wouldn't say Vista would run nicely, if windows xp is barely running on what you have, there is no way Vista will run, as Vista is a much more demanding then windows xp ever was.

you'll want 2GB
or it going to be slow ( it's going to be slow anyway due to the celeron chip )
but why go to vista?
for intel celery i always say xp pro

Why dont you just upgrade the memory only ?
On that spec for Vista, you really dont like your mom ?
