They threw the same pitches as now except for maybe a splitter and cut fastballs. However, spitballs were much more common. That maybe why no one has a million homeruns. It's kinda tough to hit a ball weighed down with someone's saliva. Also fences in most cases were much deeper.

Not true. The main difference between that time and today's game is the relief pitcher is more common. I have no data on how many of Ruth's homeruns were hit after the 6th or 7th innings but in this day of jet travel, there were no west cost teams, Ruth had it over todays players. He was/is good in any age though...

No. There was no split finger fastball but pitchers did throw a fork ball which is similar. The biggest difference in pitching was that there was no rule banning loading the ball up. Spit, paraffin, talc, it was all legal until 1920.

Nah man. They use to have other pitches. Before 1920 you could use trick pitches like spitballs.
