I am a African American who thinks white guys are so attractive. Thing is it seems like they are so afraid to approach me. I mean I dress preppy (JCrew, AE, Sperry's, Rainbows) and speak proper... It just seems like they never even take a second glance at me. It would be really nice to find the real reason why white guys are afraid to even talk to a black girl..more or less date one.

ok.. i know this is the bisexual thing.. i am bisexual. i date white guys and girls... its not that i look at color because i really don't see it. i just wonder why some of them are afraid to approach us. is it the stereotype thing?? some white guys aren't afraid and will tell me that i am beautiful in a minute... but others just are afraid of rejection when that is not the case. you just have to look for the "right" black girl...lol. if you know what i mean.

I'm "bisexual" and very interested in black girls.
To answer your question....maybe they feel intimidated by your culture. You know...the whole "white guilt" problem. Or maybe most think they'll be turned down...because their white.
They probably never had enough courage to ask out a gorgeous African American women....afraid they'd be ridiculed or something....I duno? Most of the guys I work with have commented on the "hot" black receptionist of ours.
None have enough courage to ask her out...scared I guess.
Whatever the reason is, I bet if you asked a white guy out on a date (one you've suspected is interested in you), he'd jump at the opportunity.
These "white guys" might only be intimidated by your good looks, not your race.

You must live in the wrong area. I see lots of mixed-race couples of all flavors around here in central NJ. It's no big deal. Most decent peeps are all cool with each other. Sure, there are idiots and bigots, but they're impossible to get away from no matter where you are.
Try talking to some random guy you think is cute. Ask a question about school (you sound young) or the latest movie or something that's going on in your town. Just start the convo, it can't hurt. If you're lucky, he'll keep it going. If not, move on to the next guy and don't ever take it personally.

Hmmm...maybe its just you hun. Cuz i get hit on by white guys all the time. And i dont even like men!
Try being YOURSELF. Dont try to do something that u assume is associated with the white race because u think it will make u fit "in". It just makes u a poser. All of that white people are all preps, black people are all ghetto is a bunch of bulls.hit. Excuse my language. And when u buy into all of that and try to FORCE yourself to act a certain way....it doesnt come out right at all. Maye THAT'S why they dont hit on u.

That is like the complete reverse of what folks are saying over at Black Planet. Over there, they sound like its the end of the race.
Right outside my window, a mixed couple just walked by an all-black couple.
Put up a profile there and see what happens.

I'm not so sure they're afraid. If they are, you don't want cowards. But, to find out, why not speak to a guy who you feel attracted to. You can make a comment about a class in school, a teacher, or your homework. Anything neutral. It can't hurt to try.

Afraid of what their parents will think or say
Their family in general
Their friends
They'll get beaten up by big black guys who don't want whitey dating their girls.
