I'm not sure if you heard the comments Suzuki made about being excite to go to Cleveland, he said he would rather punch himself in the face. I would rather punch him in the face too. In my opinion that shows a lack of class and sportsmanship. Nobody wants him in Cleveland anyways, he can go back to his 3rd world country for all I care.

What do you think.

I hope he was kidding, otherwise I'd agree with you that he does deserve to be punched in the face. If he meant it, then it does display a terrible lack of class to insult a city like that.

Cleveland often gets a bad rap, usually by people who have never lived there and have no idea about the city.

I grew up in Cleveland, in the Collinwood area. I still enjoy visiting. I did not think Suzuki's comments were all that bad. Did he say this through his interpretor? Like I always say, "If you can't speak the language, get the @#%! out of the country". As far as others comments, about the towns sports teams, Clevelanders understand disappointment, they know nothing comes easy, they understand determination. It's a rough and tough town full of hardworking Americans. The city is a survivor, and has rebounded. Sure its not glamorous like a Chicago, NYC or LA. So, most of the Cleveland bashers are right now jealous of LeBron because, he took his team to the Finals with NO help. You may say he's all hype, but I believe he answered his critics in the Piston series. Who does Lebron have around him, again NO ONE. he's doing it all. The rest of the team needs to step up. The coach needs a better game plan. Also the coach needs to start Gibson, and leave Hughes on the bench, Ilgaskus needs to more aggressive under the boards. The CAVS need to drive the lines before SA gets set. Again, the CAVS can win, it can be done, but the Cavs need to be assertive. Bring Pollard off the bench and let him start clothes lining people. You must shake the Spurs out of their comfort zone.

I think Japan is far from a 3rd world country and that was a silly thing to say. Maybe he's had bad experiences with fans in Cleveland. Or, considering the M's and Indians had all those games snowed out early in the year, maybe he was commenting on that. That was a tough time for both teams with all the cancelled games. The Mariners had more cancelled games in their next attempt at a series in Boston too I think. Since they were making up a game from that snowed out series, perhaps that was on his mind. He may not have been saying that Cleveland was horrible, but that the junk weather earlier in the year didn't make him thrilled to come back.

Japan isn't a 3rd world country.

And Ichiro shouldn't be criticized too much. At least he's honest. He plays the game with integrity and dignity. The comments are pretty foolish, admittedly, but he deserves a second chance. Time to move on and hope he keeps his mouth shut when he has opinions like that.

He said that because he doesn't look forward to extending the current road trip, to play a make up game for the ones that were snowed out at the beginning of the season. Mariner's ended up winning, so I guess it was worth it.

Ha ha ha! Americans. Japan, 3rd world? Ha ha ha. Sounds to me like he was showing Cleveland respect by saying that he dreads going there.

Ichiro an ******? You ever heard of Barry Bonds? Criminy!

If you read it correctly you would have seen that Icharo said "To tell the truth, I'm not excited to go to Cleveland, but we have to. If I ever saw myself saying I'm excited going to Cleveland, I'd punch myself in the face, because I'm lying." He stated he doesn't like playing in Cleveland, and he would punch himself for lying about wanting to play there. Please don't take him out of context just to get people angry.

Whew, for a moment there, I thought you were talking about me!

*Ahem*

Don't worry. Ichiro wont be going anywhere. I'm not sure if he really said that or not, but he's been with the mariners for a long time.

Why did he say that? And if you wanna come out on top in a situation, you should'nt sink down to their level. But I understand where your coming from. Id be mad too.

It may be he doesn't like the ballpark or he doesn't want to play there. Or are we looking at a translation here?

And if you think Japan is a third world country, you clearly have not left Ohio.
