How do I write a speech?

I need to write a speech to become a vice president for my band. I am hoping to become vice president. Please I need to know how. What are some pointers while writing it and delivering it amongst my peers.

The best way to write a speech is to organize your thoughts in an outline. Start by writing out you opening statement, then list your majot points. Under your major points list your subpoints or your supporting facts/information. Figure out how you want to state your plee and go from there. The last thing you should do is write out your closing statement. You outline should end up looking something like this:

I would like to present to you today my reasons for you allowing me to be your vice pres.......

1. 1st major point
A. Supporting arguement
B. Supporting fact/info
2. 2nd major point
A. Supporting info
a. More supporting info if needed
b. More supporting info if needed
B. Supporting fact/info

Then you would write out your closing statement with something like:

I would like to thank you for your time and consideration in the matter of this position.......

first figure out why you want to be vice prez of the band.

what will you do for the band?
how will they benefit if you are vice prez?
how will it make a difference to them?
what is your plan for the band?
how will you get input from band members?
what is the direction you think the band should go?

show them how they will benefit
