yes. the flashing red strobe lighting effects from pikachu's electrical attacks from the episode "electric soldier porygon" caused hundreds of japanese children to be rushed to the ER after seeing the episode. More than 700 kids to be exact.

Yes. In fact, it was several of the anime-type cartoons and it's because the fast-flashing light can does soething to the brain's electric currents (you know how kids sit all up in the TV instead of back aways) and that's what brings on the seizures. It's by no means LOTS of kids, but the ones who are prone to seizures. Same thing with adults who seize at times.

It's possible if they already had a condition that caused them to have seizures easy. I don't think it's possible for it to cause anyone in good health to have seizures though. Just and example of the condition thing, I used to know someone that if you slapped him on the back or he saw a flashing light he would go into seizures.

In japan only. When they showed the episode where porygon appears there were a lot of flashing brilliant colors that caused the seizures. America playing it safe didn't air it.

in japan there was a sequence in the original episodes where when pikachu did its thunderbolt the screen would flash rapidly, which caused seizures in epileptic people. it was taken out of the show in America.

im not sure, but i sure didnt ever have a seizure, and i was OBSESSED with pokemon.. :), i heard that the flashing lights from the cartoon caused that..

yes, because of the porygon episode when they were in cyberspace had different color flashing lights. It didn't make it to America though.

One episode of the animated TV series did, but the episode was pulled, edited, and to my knowlage, there have been no other cases since.
