This bill is hated by many on both sides of the Isle. Ted Kennedy co-authored the bill which leds me to my next question. What does a senator from Massachusett know about border security?
Shouldn't the govenors from Texas, New Mexico, Arizonia and Califorinia get together and write a bill?

Being a Texan, I am ticked off that this Bill has even been introduced. The fact is that no matter how you slice it, ILLEGAL IS ILLEGAL! They are breaking the law and this should not be rewarded with the fruits of this country! I get tired of paying school taxes in my district for kids who are illegal. I am paying for their education because the parents don't pay jack. Everyone keeps saying we need the workers. Well, American's would do the work if the employers would pay the legal pay of minium wage. They want to pay cheap labor under the table. It irritates me when they say they are doing work that American's won't do. That is not the case. They are stealing work from America's because the employers are breaking the law!
I for one am sick of this!

I am from Texas, and I want this bill to die. If this bill passes, our problems only get worse. Did you know in Texas, if you are pregnant and don't have money, you can go to a hospital and tell them. You then have to somehow prove you don't have money, and then you get only basic service (as far as having a baby goes). If you are an illegal immigrant you get the full meal deal. Education, bottles, formula, and even a brand new car seat. Let the bill die. Build a wall.

I'm sure the pro-illegal crowd (including Kennedy and McCain) will be disappointed that the majority of the American people have voiced their disapproval of this insane bill that is doomed to die.
I like the idea of people "in the know" writing a bill, but there, you are using reason and logic. Those two things don't always apply in Washington D.C.

It doesn't look like it. Right now- people are SO unhappy with Bush, that anything with his fingerprints on it- is NOT going to pass. It'll be late '09 before the next opportunity for Immigration Reform has any chance of making it into law.

This bill is treasonous. Most american's realize this and thats why it died. The states and the govt. are not securing our borders and want them open for a reason. Even our military wants the bill to pass so they can recruit illegals to fight in our military. It's disgusting!

i think it is horrible that immagrants can just come over and buypass soo many of aor laws. we follow the laws they need to come the legal way or not come....
