Some starbucks have 2 or 3 tip jars and some have none. What's the deal? The guy today was really nice, but there was no where to leave a tip. :(

Just give it to the person. It always makes my day when someone gives me a tip. (I work at panera and there is no tip jars.) One time a old lady gave me a quarter and said i was a sweet girl. I don't care that it was just a quarter it made my day. To answer your question some starbucks are corporate and some are franchise. Corporate has tip jars. Some franchises, like the ones inside macys, Kroger, Meijers, and some other independently owned don't let their employees put out a tip jar.

Two reasons. One, some of the stores in airports or bookshops are franchised, and are not operated by the corporate headquarters. Two, Starbucks itself does not regulate the tips, and employees are responsible for reporting them on their own. Each store has it's own way to split the tips, and the company specifically forbids employees from writing anything on the plastic boxes (although you can put stickers on them).

PS - if you want to do the guy a favor, fill out a comment card and be sure to use his name. The store will get a comment report and he could get some recognition.

I have no idea, but I'd say give to the tip jar when present and leave change as their tip when no jar is present.

They are not supposed to take tips if the Starbuck's is inside another establishment like a Target.

Why would you? That is a pet peeve of mine. They get paid to serve you at the counter. If you were to be seated and they brought your items to your table, then a tip would be in order. Ice cream parlors do the same thing. No tip!

One can always leave a tip on the counter or hand it to the server.

You're spoused to stuff the money into their g strings.

Some Starbucks are kinky like that.
