You have to know that a letter of invitation is very much delayed (it is the slowest way to bring someone here). All you can do is write the letter saying that you want your friend to come and visit you and your family and you need to put the exact date(that you want your friend to come) on the letter. A lot of the U S embassies don't full with invitation letters, and a lot of the countries that the person is trying to leave from (ex- your friend is trying to leave from Nigeria) don't allow invitation letters because so many people are on the net trying to get into other countries using these letters. I wish you the best of luck, and if the letter goes through, just be patient because it can take some years.

First, yes, you can write a letter of invitation, however, it will be years before you get a response from the embassy. It is currently taking them between 18 and 24 months to even schedule an interview to be seen by the embassy. Then you will have to provide proof of knowing personally the person you are trying to invite, i.e. photos of you together, letters, and anything showing you've met previously up to and including your passport records showing that you've been to where he/she is if he has not previously been in the states. You will also have to show proof of responsibility that you will guarantee that your friend will return home after his/her visit realizing that this is yet another way of illegal immigration into the states. The fastest and surest way to bring him/her here is through an attorney or paralegal services that deals specifically with immigration law, even though it's only for visitation. It'll cost you but the process is quicker and you can be assured that all your "t's" are crossed and all your "i's " are dotted and you won't have to fill out forms over and over again (you have to pay for each filing). Do it the right way the first time. Also note that there is a certain quota admitted per year with a lotto being drawn for applicants who qualify to be accepted. Generally this maximum is reached for Nigerians by the end of July annually.

Er... If Zain could read, he'd see that Cupala said it was his friend that needs the travel info... Why is it some people can't understand that Nigeria is not all about SCAM...

And to answer your question Cupala, you have to get intouch with the US embassy to obtain the info. Typically you shouldwrite a letter to the Embassy, stating that you have invited your friend over. The Embassy would require some of your personal data, to verify that you are a bonafide US citizen and you have the funds to accomodate your friend and ensure that he returns when he's done...
