Definitley the hope that something good is going to happen next. Also maybe because there aren't too many other options, considering you're already here.

I'm going to start with what you've given, and see what might turn up. No definitive answers, but maybe a little rambling can help you sort it out yourself.
You're presenting us with two options, as if they were the only ones to choose from. They are quite basic, I'll grant you. Fear is negative, geared toward preservation; hope is positive, geared toward growth. They can coexist, and often do. Perhaps they are fundamental options after all...but fear of what? hope for what? Part of your answer may lie there.
Both options are future-oriented; fear and hope anticipate something. You're asking about a valid *purpose* for living. How far into the future? If you're looking for an unconditionally valid purpose, it will have to be one that holds for all time. So, what kind of purpose would hold for all time?
It's unclear on whose behalf were asking for - a reason for *my* living, for *all* people, for *anything* whatsoever? My guess is this is a very personal question, as my life is ultimately only my responsibility. Answer this, and an answer might inch closer.
I can't think of anything else at this hour. Tired. This is the last question I'm answering tonight. Good luck finding your answer! I'm going to find my bed.

there is no real reason that we are living life.
this is the very question that has puzzled philosophers and scientists throughout the ages.
Naturally, when you think of the reasons why we are still alive, we talk about family, friends, important events to be a part of and of course, the main goal to achieve at the end of life.
personally, i think that all these are very conventional reasons, and that there is no reason why we should still be alive, because we are causing yet more and more destruction as the days pass. well, think about it.
we have caused global warming, we have caused the spreading of many diseases, and we have been the reason behind killing our own kind. we are 'fighting' against this evil force, but we do not realize that we ARE the evil that we are fighting against, and that there is no good and bad.
well, if we lived in fear of everything, then there would be no existence, would there?
if we were to live in the hope of something good, then we would be shooting ourselves in the foot, because, as i said before, we are killing ourselves while keeping ourselves alive...
but if this confuses you, then that's okay... i just like answering questions like this and i think i need more practice... thanks again for asking!!

Valid reason for living is "To Die". Death is the ultimate cause of living, of course fear & hope are are out of the characteristics of the life.

LIFE is life if it is lived otherwise most of people drag their life on this earth. Fear or too much hope both weigh down the flow of life and the only way we can live it like REAL LIFE is by living its every moment with our full ability - then as Rudyard Kipling said - Then yours is the world And you are a man my son..

Hope. A valid reason for living is simple, we are given this life to live. To learn and to grow and be all we can be. To help ourselves and our fellow man. To follow this journey to it's end and find whatever is there for us to find. Just think of all that we would miss out on if we weren't living life.

Hindus believe that every life on earth has come with a purpose and leave this world after completing his/her job.
This is God's comand and it is our sacred duty to live our full lives and bear all the troubles and enjoy all that comes good in our way.Even the smallest harmless black ant is revered and given food by nature lovers with the hope of getting God,s blessings.
We all should feel that life is to serve our fellow beings both
humans and animals and plants.

HOPE.
Life is precious whether it is miserable or otherwise. It gives Chance to cleanse the past karmas effect and paves way for a better life.
You are not born to die whenever you want. When we are born we come to earth with return ticket already in hand, only the date and time are not known.
You are not entitled to kill any thing also, that which you can't create you can't destroy.
God gave you life.live it happily and try to help others though you are suffering, that way you go up the ladder.
Life is beautiful and lovely,Think about Him.
So that is the valid reason.

it is strange question, every living one is living , because it has life.If we ask question even to our self, we cannot give correct - true reply. reason- valid reason , the human society have no reason.some time we are crawling, some time we are walking, sometime we running- until we reach final destination--death.
no one like it ,every one avoid it- but no one can escape. from it.
because of this, life moving, ------ fear ,hope is nothing but a small step in life line
we are living because of we have life, that is the reason

god has created the human being with some definite purpose. but he gave the discretary power to human being. whether to make or mould life is with in the hands of every human being. hope is the ray of well-being. fear is the inherent factor. hence life must be meaningful. hence meaningful life is the valid reason or purpose.
