I'm 15, and ppl say its weird that I listen to a bunch of 70s and 80s music. I just don't consider rap real music, it requires no musical ability.

I'm 16 and I hate it
I love classic rock, perferably the 60's and 70's. I really don't get what's so great about these modern bands. they all sound alike, their music's not deep and it's not very much based on skilll at all. Rap is even worse. it's filled with violence and sexism and it's really not that great and a poor influence on our youth. It just doean't touch me the same way as Pink Floyd or Boston.

I agree with you that modern music has gone downhill, and I too listen to a lot of 70's/80's stuff. However, I don't think rap is totally lost. Rap can be very effective and powerful, provided it's got something better to talk about than capping other people and maligning women. As for modern rock, the state of things is truly appalling. Every little snotnosed emo band out there is a watered down version of Iron Maiden and they all know it. Take an Iron Maiden song, slow it down, make the bassline simpler, and make the guitar parts ridiculously easy, and you have about every song that Fall Out Boy/Panic at the Disco/MCR/etc. does. The drumming is still ridiculous, but let's put some shredders back on the axes and get somebody on the bass who knows how to handle that thing.

Your my new bud man! Lol. jk I've actually got a few friends who listen to music from the late 80's - mid 90's music. Stuff like Nirvana, Pink Floyd, My Bloody Valentine, Rolling Stones, Alice In Chains..all that good stuff. I don't think all modern music is crap (good deal of it is). I'll just change the station away if it really bothers me. And I agree with you on the rap.. but hey.. listen to whatever you want. lol =)

I pretty much like all music in general!! The 80's were prolly killer ( I bet anyways considering I was'nt alive lol)! I'll seriously listen to anything. I really like the Ray Charles era and the 60's for the Eagles and the Beatles of course. Do you like the Flaming Lips? Yeah all my friends think I'm so weird bc I'm not even old enough to drive yet I love music older than me lol. But it rocks hardcore and is a lot better than some of the ' music' now lol. I LOVE LED ZEP! sry had to add tht in lol....

I can't say that I hate ALL modern music. There is some good stuff, just not whats played on the radio and MTV. I really like 80s metal and alot of 70s rock. Some of my favorite bands are: Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Motorhead, Pantera, and so on..

There's nothing wrong with liking 70's or 80's music. I myself dislike modern mainstream, pay them no mind. And keep on listening to your music! It's all a matter of perspective.

I accept as true with you that cutting-side track has long gone downhill, and that i too hear to particularly some 70's/eighty's stuff. notwithstanding, i do no longer think of rap is particularly lost. Rap could nicely be very useful and efficient, provided this is have been given something greater effective to communicate approximately than capping human beings and maligning women. As for cutting-side rock, the state of issues is particularly appalling. each and every little snotnosed emo band accessible's a watered down version of Iron Maiden and that all of them realize it. Take an Iron Maiden track, sluggish it down, make the bassline greater convenient, and make the guitar areas ridiculously elementary, and you have approximately each and every track that Fall Out Boy/Panic on the Disco/MCR/and so on. does. The drumming remains ridiculous, yet enable's placed some shredders decrease back on the axes and get somebody on the bass who's acquainted with the thank you to shield that element.

Yeah, it really does STINK, doesn't it?! It is very reassuring for me to know that SOME kids these days can discern REAL music from all the garbage we are bombarded with!

To me, ALL rap is nothing but toxic filth. "Old school" (no such thing!) - "new school" - whatever.....it's all a bunch of sh*t!!! I don't see how anyone can tell ANY of it apart. Regardless of WHEN it was produced, it ALL sounds EXACTLY THE SAME as the rest of it! There is NO melody, NO "tune", just the same hostile, monotonous sound. All it does is promote that ghetto mentality, and kids are being BRAINWASHED into it! DISGUSTING!!!!!

And the rest of it these days isn't much better. Rock music is LAME anymore; it's just re-cycled re-hash, far inferior to the REAL THING I grew up with!

Yes, give me '60s, '70s, and even '80s music any day ~~
it's ALL I listen to!!!!!

Today's rap doesn't that is for sure, but then again neither does today's pop. Brittney Spears can't even come close to the talent of Whitney Houston. I definitely miss the music of the 80's. It is almost like rock n roll no longer even exsists.
