I have to write a thesis statement and an outline with regards to: The Old Man and the Sea is a novel of a man's fight against adversity. (this is for an interpretation essay) Thanks!

This isn't really an answer (you probably oughta do that yourself) but I'd like to observe that calling The Old Man and the Sea "a novel of a man's fight against adversity" is pretty lame. Pretty much every novel that's ever been written has been about some sort of fight against adversity. Really, by definition, every fight is against adversity of some sort.
The Old Man and the Sea is a novel of man's outward struggle with nature and, at the same time, his inward struggle with his own pride.

So what's your question? Are you asking US to write your essay or come up with a thesis statement for you? Because if so, that's called cheating.
