Try resetting it first. Use a straightened paperclip to push the reset button on the back.
Leave it to charge overnight and try it again in the morning.
If it still isn't responding, pack it up and contact the retailer for information.
Typically, within 30 days of purchase, you are entitled to a straight replacement.
Over thirty days and within one year, the unit may be replaced free-of-charge at the discretion of the retailer but most often they advise you to send it back to the manufacturer.
Don;t forget to get insurance when you post it - it could prove expensive if it got lost in the post. Ask at the post office for details - they usually insure stuff up to £500 for a few pounds. And make sure to ask to have it signed for at the other end. Then you can track it with the receipt you are given by the post office.

Take it back and get a refund. I've had three Tom Toms and they all went wrong.
