That is a very good question. I have wondered that all my life. I mean seeing someone rub their stomach isn't sexy or anything.....Maybe they are just trying to get our attention. Could be a nerves habit...Rather odd really..... Maybe they have been working out and are trying to get us to look at their abs or something.

My guess, it's kind of like rubbing a Buddha statue's stomach (for some in more ways than one). They do it for luck (or nervousness).
