You need to read the news more.

The US Congress currently has a Democrat majority...both houses.

First of all the Speaker of the House is a democrat, which means they control the house......

Still your question is somewhat Valid because they had all those during President's Bush's first term, and they control the house and senate during Clinton's terms. It takes awhile for change to take affect once the laws, budgets, and policies are enacted by the government also. So I would say, as a Conservative myself, that the republicans certainly hold a majority of the responsibility for the condition of our Country. This could be good, or bad, depending on your opinion but never the less, still true.

The Republicans lost control in the Senate and the House to the Democrats in the last election in November 2006.

I understand your point.

The White House and both houses of Congress were indeed controlled by the Republican until the last election.

The problems we have today -- with roots in 2006 and before -- are the responsibility of the people in control at that time.

The Democrats control the Senate and House. Don't you read a news paper or watch TV?

I believe there is a typo here, "control" should have been"controlled". The electorate (the people) are responsible for the chaotic conditions in the U.S. today. All citizen patriots should try to find and read the Declaration of Independence. That document contains some radical ideas and course of action for those interested in establishing a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

I think this is absolutely hilarious seeing all of the "but the Dem's control..." responses. It is much easier to pick at minor details and blow those out of proportion than answer the main issue.

To answer the question, yes, the Republican Party is responsible for the state of the US. However, if you find yourself avidly listening to Bill-O, Rush, Hannity, or Savage, then no. Everything that is wrong with the country is caused by (in no particular order): the Clintons, the gay mafia, liberals, and Al Gore.

The dems only have a simple majority so they still have their hands tied. Bush can veto whatever they do. If they can't override his veto, (which they can't because there is still not enough of them), then the republicans rule. Republicans still do the things they have been doing, (ruining america)...but the dems can make life miserable for them right now. For them to be effective, we'll need a democratic President, which won't happen untill 2008.

Don't forget the Supreme Court.

Although Congress now so close Dems & Reps that they need parisan compromise to reach agreement, and are fra from huge volume needed to override veto or change Constitution, in the time that Reps had more control, they got several judges into Supreme Court, and sent oversight down the toilet, because did not want to reveal bad stuff on their watch.

Also keep in perspective where US politics are Dem and Rep, relative to rest of world US needs good relations with.
