In my opinion, interleague play ruins the game. The only time an American league team and a National League team should meet is in the World series. Occassionally they should still have inter-city games (like Mets vs Yankees) but even that should only be 3 games a year, not six.
The mets got screwed this year because they are playing the Tigers (which they just lost 2 out of 3 to) The Twins, A's and Yankees 6 times. This could lead to us losing 2 or 3 crucial games in our division lead, which could really hurt at the end of the season.
Will they ever stop interleague play??? I'd also like to see my Mets go to San Francisco,Chicago and other cities more then once a year!

I wish they would end it also. The schedule now has no rhyme or reason. At the beginning, it was supposed to be one division against another. Like the AL Central against the NL West. But somewhere along the lines - they forgot about the AL West only having 4 teams. So that messed things up. Then they decided to do a rematch of World Series participants. Screwed up things even more. Then they wanted 6 games with "rivals". So teams like the Cubs & Sox have to play 6 times - every year. Then to make matters worse - they changed the schedule to eliminate some really bad matchups (like tampa vs. Pittsburgh). So that messed things up even more!
If you look at the Cubs schedule - they play only 2 teams other than the Sox in interleague! They only play 12 games, not 18. And only their trip to Texas puts them on the road! Talk about a screwed up thing. The Sox have to play Houston and Pittsburgh again. Why??
The concept was nice at first. But now it is just too goofy. And watered down. I am a White Sox fan, but I hate the series against the Cubs. There is no life to it this year. Both teams sucked it up most of the year. What - are we going to chant "you suck more than we do" all game? And by us having to play the Cubs 6 times, we miss out on some potentially fun matchups. I know for a fact that changes in the schedule prevented the Sox from playing NY Mets at home (that, and the fact that the Yankees were in town for 7 games - just more MLB planning gone haywire), and a trip to Milwaukee - which Sox fans would have loved.
I say go away interleague. But if not - than at least get rid of these 6 "rivalry" games every year. It has watered down things.

Fortunately and unfortunately no they will not get rid of Interleague play. I love it because nothing gets Chicago baseball fans going like the Sox/Cubs series, but the way that teams like the Mets play someone like the Tigers while some are playing the Tampa Bay Devil Rays is kinda ridiculous. If anything, to make it fair maybe have just one series of 3 games for each interleague matchup, but get more variety of AL/NL matchups so that it is more fair.

I can see what you mean by this. I think that in the MLB they should either play interleague regularly, or not play each other at all.
But you can't just say there shouldn't be interleague if the Mets are going to lose some games in it, it's the same for everybody, so why does that matter.

The answer would be no. They will not change anything that brings in revenue. Mets and Yankees are always sold out. Yankees to San Fran sold out. Mets BoSox Sold out. Most of these interleague games are record attendance games and they will not stop if it is helping the bottom line. As long as the fans keep on coming they will continue to play.

Not while Seligula is kommissar. Interleague is his baby, and something he can point to as a success.

I acknowledge that interleague isn't going to go away, but it could certainly stand to be trimmed back from the current 16-19 games down to 6-8.

I agree on the grounds that a teams pseudo "rival" makes interleague play unfair (the fact that the mets ALWAYS play the yankees sucks), but all in all most baseball fans are a fan of interleague play

I for one am more apt to watch my squad during the interleague games, there's something cute about watch in AL pitchers have to bat.

But, to answer you question, no they won't get rid of it. It's spikes viewership and especially ballpark attendance (folks like to see teams they don't normally see in their home ball park.)

sorry dude

between the best things relating to the All famous guy or woman pastime grew to become into that it gave you an threat to work out how the nicely suited gamers from one league might do against the celebrities from the different league. you may debate how Nolan Ryan might do against the elite hitters of the NL however the ASG gave you a great gamble to relatively experience it. the international sequence grew to become into greater thrilling, too, because of fact the communities could have in no way confronted one yet another earlier and you in no way knew how they wold experience up. unfastened organisation diminished this factor of the sport because of fact some gamers now substitute communities as in many cases as gamers substitute their socks, yet interleague play killed. Boston and Philadelphia, the preseason favorites to make the international sequence, performed final weekend with the Phillies taking 2 out of three. Does this propose that the Phillies will win the sequence? in all likelihood no longer, even regardless of the undeniable fact that it does assure that the countless mystique hat the matchup might have presented is long previous, that the lsuter the eries might have had is dulled. Interleague play could be abolished. My well-known team is the Scrubs. They lose to each physique.

I could do without interleague play, though I do like to go to St. Louis to watch the Royals play the Cards. I'm curious if you would be singing the same tune if the Mets got to play KC, Tampa Bay and Texas and they had a chance to really extend their lead because of that.

Interleague play is too popular to get rid of it. I agree seeing the same team that much is a bit much. I am happy to see interleague play because I will finally get to see the Reds play the Mariners next week. Been waiting for that for so long!

They never will but i dont think it hurts the game any way. It actully will sell out a certain stadium if they are having a hard time selling out. I am a huge cubs fan and i always get ready to see the cubs whip the white sox butt. they interleague format was a break through for baseball. It has definately brought back alot to fans who left after the 1994 strike
