the cone cells which contain the cone pigments, which are specific to the basic colours blue, green and red makes u sense the colour of various things.cone cells are present in the photoreceptive layer which is the first layer of the retina of the eye.

the color in the 'things' are actually a property of the things and not the eyes. the eyes however sense those colors with the help of photosensitive cells (two types: rods n cones) in the retina.
u can check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_eye for details on varieties of eyes.
by the way r u a dr. of medicine or a ph.d holder?

Our eye retina consists of two types of cells which assist us to see things. One is the rod cells, which enable our eyes to differentiate between the intensity of light. The cone cells enable us to see the colors. They are of three types all the three being responsive to red, blue and green color respectively and they are scattered all over the retina.
There are three primary colors called red, green and blue and all other colors are formed by the combination of these three colors. So, the color of an object we see depends on which color cone cells are activated by it.
The people whose one particular type of cone cells do not respond can't differentiate between the colors and they are said to be color blind.

Fovea
The fovea is a dip in the retina directly opposite the lens, which is densely packed with cone cells. It is largely responsible for color vision in humans

Our eyes don't give things color. Color is determined by which light waves are absorbed by an object and which are reflected.

It`s extraordinarily lengthy rationalization yet study until eventually eventually the top with the intention to comprehend the way it fairly works.. ordinary from exterior products enters the interest by ability of the student. The human eye has a lens and iris diaphragm that paintings very resembling a digital camera. The optics of the interest mission an upside-down image of those products on the rear, inner floor of the eyeball (the retina). There, a dense carpet of sunshine-comfortable photoreceptors converts ordinary (photons) into electro-chemical alerts, that are then processed by neural circuits contained in the retina and transmitted to the mind. The retina includes an fairly skinny layer of nerve cells and contains 2 sorts of photoreceptors, rods and cones. Rods won't be able to distinguish colorings, yet are responsible for low-ordinary black-and-white (scotopic) inventive and prescient; they paintings nicely in dim ordinary as they contain a pigment, seen red, that's comfortable at low ordinary intensity, yet saturates at larger (photopic) intensities. Rods are disbursed in the course of the retina yet there are none on the fovea and none on the blind spot. Rod density is better contained in the peripheral retina than contained in the critical retina. Cones are responsible for colour inventive and prescient. They require brighter ordinary to operate than rods require. There are 3 sorts of cones, maximally comfortable to lengthy-wavelength, medium-wavelength, and short-wavelength ordinary (many times referred to as pink, eco-friendly, and blue, respectively, although the sensitivity peaks aren't from now on easily at those colorings). the colour considered is the mixed effect of stimuli to, and responses from, those 3 sorts of cone cells. Cones are often targeted in and close to the fovea. in ordinary words some are present on the facets of the retina. products are considered maximum sharply in concentration even as their pictures fall in this spot, as even as one seems at an merchandise right away. Cone cells and rods are linked by ability of intermediate cells contained in the retina to nerve fibers of the optic nerve. even as rods and cones are inspired by straightforward, the nerves deliver off impulses by ability of those fibers to the mind. desire it would want to help...
