No taxpayer funds directly support the Boy Scouts of America. Taxpayer funds do help support facilities that are available to all persons that may also be used primarily by Scouts.
Taxpayers do support an organization that has been in existence for over 250 years that is highly discriminatory and very selective of its members. We currently call the organization the United States Army. Other discriminatory organizations are the United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, United States Coast Guard, and United States Air Force. These organizations refuse to allow members who are not of a certain age, height, weight, and mental state. The supreme court has asserted that organizations have the right to set their own membership criterion. and may refuse membership to some individuals, provided the rules are established and enforced equally.

Some states do not support the Boy Scouts and some states do support the Boy Scouts. Just like Nancy Pelosi owns 2 private country clubs where the membership is over $250,000 and they vote on who is allowed in the club. The Boy Scouts are a private organization as well and are allowed to have rules that they deem fit. If an all boys organization feels there is a potential risk allowing homosexual adult men taking young boys into the woods camping for the weekend they have the right to eliminate what they feel is a risk to the young children. The state shouldn't have any say in this. I don't feel the state should be supporting private clubs though these clubs should also have the right to freely associate with whom they deem appropriate. I hate Democrat Senator Robert Byrd's organization that he used to lead though in America the Klu Klux Klan has a right to exist. I think they are a fairly exclusive club as well. I don't know if their voting is as strict as Pelosi's though I'm sure it's just as corrupt. (Don't think for a moment I'm comparing the KKK and Boy Scouts because I'm not! The point is state support or not support of private organizations and the state's legislation of such organizations).

I hope so! The Scouts are a patriotic and vital American institution.
The BSA is the largest youth organization in the United States; over one hundred million Americans have been members.
The BSA sprang from the concerns of the progressive movement in the United States from people who sought to promote the social welfare of young men. With the migration of families from rural to urban centers, there were concerns that young men were no longer learning patriotism and rugged individualism.
The BSA adheres to the Scout method to teach values such as self-esteem, citizenship, and outdoorsmanship through a variety of outdoor activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking.
