Any mom's out there give their babies breastmilk during the day and formula at night, I read having formula in their tummies helps them sleep better... Of course then people say it can give them tummy troubles.
Have you done this? What was your experience?

I did this. It went well, breastfeeding during the day, then formula right before bed, and maybe once or twice during the night. During the night I had to breasfeed at least once because I was so uncomfortable (engorged). If it doesn't give your baby tummy trouble during the day, go ahead and do formula at night. Anything to get a little bit more sleep for you is worth it! Plus, somebody else can give the formula to give you a break.

People say formula helps babies sleep better but I dont believe there are any facts backin that up. The only reason people say that is because formula takes a little while longer to digest than breastmilk. Personally I think the few extra minutes it takes for a baby to digest the formula isnt worth the mountain of trouble formula fed babies might have to deal with.

I DID formula feed both of my babies because I had to. If I had the option to use only breastmilk, I would have.

In the beginning I didn't, nothing but breast milk for my girl. But when I returned to work I had to supplement her bottles with formula a couple of times and of course everyday I send her to daycare with a bottle of formula just in case she's gets hungrier for more than what breast milk I was able to supply.
She doesn't necessarily care for formula but will take it when hungry and I'm not around. It doesn't seem to mess with her tummy at all.

This isn't necessarily the case, I'm afraid.

Although formula is denser ad sits in the stomach longer, it doesn't affect all babies like this.

Breastmillk changes in the night and you have more hormones working to encourage sleep in babies, so it is the best thing for them really if you are breastfeeding anyway.

I think we are all looking out for this miracle cure, though, to lack of sleep! ;-)

If you have a new baby, may i reccommend co-sleeping and feeding to sleep - I did it for the first 3 weeks and got lots of sleep and so did she.

She is now largely sleeping through at 4 months.

Good luck! sweet dreams.

I did it with my twins and to be honest with you, it only worked for like a week. They didn't have any tummy aches or anything but I had to mix my breatmilk with formula for extra calories when they were born because they were preemies.
