If you just downloaded from the Inet, odds are you will not receive a disk. Some do mail a disk for an added shipping cost.
For me, I really prefer a disk, though I have downloaded some and not get a disk. The reasoning I use, should I ever need to reinstall or repair software, it really is nice to have a disk. I not too sure how well they allow me to download again for free. They may, I not sure. But, as software progress, I not want to be caught with an OS that I can no longer get the software.
Example; I have an old 486 desktop. I was a good computer in it's day. At the time I got this computer, I was sure to buy the software I wanted and the printer etc. stuff. So, it have everything it need, including a high-speed modem. ;-)
It still connects to the Inet and and can do anything computers do today. But, should I need new software, it hard to come by now. But, I have it all, Disk and Floppies. I really not use it much for the Inet (Have other computers), but, it fun to show my friends it can still run the gauntlet.
It been running "Microsoft Space Simulator" for about 8-10 years now. It on autopilot heading for Jupiter. But, this another interesting story.

It depends on the company. If you download the game online, you have the option to have the disk sent to you, but it usually costs a little for the disk. Most of the time, if you buy and download a game online, you usually don't get the disk.

If you buy "Box Software",... yes, it is in the box
if you download, not usually unless you request a disk, but you will have to pay some, usually shipping. if you download i would recommend burning your downloads to disk so even if you get a disk you still have what you downloaded backed up.
