at my store and a tee at abercrombie kids ranges from 15.50 through 24.50 and why? it might be because they are so popular. mainly abercrombie. but a&f tees are like 30 bucks, jeans-at least 80 and polos are 40 when the kids ones are 25 bucks

Even though these are my fave stores, i wonder why too! i think it is just because they are so popular that it makes sense to sell at those prices when so many people are buying.

Casey S did not say whether or not she is "poor", she just stated that she thought the prices are expensive.

I also agree that the prices are not just expensive, but ostenatious. However, it does come down to supply and demand, kids wanting to be trendy, and "fitting in" (and essentially looking like everybody else). I also can't figure out why somebody would want to not only pay $80 for a pair of jeans, but a pair that looks very old an worn. Although I do think it's funny and sad that somebody will pay at least $20 for a Tshirt and give the company free advertising. I have jeans that look like that I bought at a thrift store for less than $5.

However, my view might just come with my 30 years of experience. In my lifetime, I've never paid more than $20 for an article of clothing before tax. In the past few years, I've not paid more than $5. This is why thrift store and other second hand sources (free from friends, rummage sales, etc.) exist. On the rare occasions I do buy new (which is for shoes, bras, underwear, and when I literally need something and I'm not finding it at the thrift store), I shop the sale racks. About a month ago, as a birthday present, my mother bought me some maternity clothes. The shorts and two of the shirts came from second hand stores. (Goodwill and a resale shop.) The jeans and another shirt came from Kohl's but both were over 50% off after the discount and my mother's coupon.

I suppose if more people were like me, then there wouldn't be demand for those clothes and that dribble.

To the person above me, so what if Daddy gives you $30 a week. I hope the day will come when reality smacks you in the face and $30 for clothing is a lot of money. Although it seems apparant that you posh allowance does not buy you basic grammar, puctuation, capitalization and composition skills.

Because A&F is better quality, (even though I love both stores), and basically they can get away with charging more for it because not everyone can fit into abercrombie kids, but a lot of people out of the kids size range like that store.

Because they can sell it at the price and people will still buy it making the companies have a profit. I seriously hate it when people walk around decked out in overpriced Hollister. Not so much Abercrombie, but you get my drift. I had Ezra Fitch jeans that tore in 6 weeks. My BDG Jeans from Urban Outfitters have lasted me a year and they havent even started getting fuzzy

If you look at a business model, you'll notice that in order for there to be supply, there must be demand. By raising prices, they also increase demand because people want to always have the bigger, better, and more expensive item than their peer, neighbor, friend, etc.....These stores increase their prices because they know that there is such a high demand for their product, and they can make extra money because consumers are willing to pay more-----dillusions of granduer on the part of the consumer.

they know people will pay a lot for their clothes because hollister and abercrombie are brand names. since parents won't be willing to pay as much for a shirt their kid is going to grow out of in a few months, the clothes at abercrombie kids aren't as expensive. but they are still expensive because of the name brand

thats because they are so popular and they know that people are going to spend the money on the clothes if they really want it.but i think it makes no since to buy little kids[like 4,5,6, y/o] expensive clothes like A&F because they could probably care less about what brand of clothing they are wearing.i mean come on they are little kids.lol

the reason why they're so expensive is because there clothes are extremely well made and it's in high demand. teens and adult clothes are always more expensive than kids clothes. you know that hollister is owned by abercrombie right? hollister is the brand directed toward teenagers.

um..thats not really expensive. i have like tanks that are $60+. but the abercrombie kids stuff is less expensive because the clothes are smaller and they dont need as much fabric to make them.
