Been married for thirteen years, just wondering ladies and gentlemen, do all men just sit there and seem like they have no "thoughts, feelings, etc?" I don't consider myself a demanding wife or hard to life with, but it seems my husband just doesn't have any type of interesting things to discuss ever-He seems kind of like a shell, with no substance? Is this true for others as well?

You described my ex to a tee. I am very passionate and he just didn't seem to have much going on mentally or emotionally. It's really very sad, because if he had given of himself and not been such an "empty shell" we may still be married. He was like this with both me and our kids for years and after a while it really takes its toll. I'm so sorry that your husband is like that also. I don't think all men are though. I have found out that there are many many nice men with wonderful personalities out there.

Chris Rock was right, after a while, you've heard everything your husband has to say, and all you want to do is stick him in the eye with a pencil. Have some new $hit happen to him. C. Rock suggests getting himself kidnapped, or something along those lines. Should make for interesting conversation.

Men go into shutdown mode - like putting a car in Neutral

It is not a personal affront - just part of the nature of the beast - Like women endlessly chattering

I can ride in a car with my brother for 2 hours and never say a word

Holy crap Sarah, I was just wondering the same thing about myself. Although, I can talk up a storm. I find myself not knowing what I want out of life, and I think maybe us guys just get stuck doing our job and not caring about anything else. I might suggest that It may have something to do with being in a relationship though, so you may have something to do with it. I know you can sometimes feel trapped not knowing what you want to do with yourself because sometimes your too busy thinking about what your significant other would like to do.

That's probably because you have talked him to death. I have this theory that women don't really want a man to talk just listen and listen and listen. What a man says is irrelevant to their conversation. This is how a lot of men feel ladies, honest. Also, we don't get into the minutia of the day, we just want a general overview of it not a play by play description of it. Blah, Blah, Blah.

This happens to most marriages. They say every seven years theres a change. So most couple go to a marriage encounter about this time. Raising kids and being scoped into routine can lead to a bland state. I doubt he notices. Do vaidate your marriage as a couple b y learns new skills they teach at these week long or longer marriage retreats. My catholic church has them and probobly yours does too.

No - I've been married or 13 years too. My husband has thoughts and feelings. Sometimes he has more to talk about than I do.

most women are of the option " if i want your option i will give it to you. " After so long of marriage, it gets old. you get to feel why bother if whatever i bring up is wrong and ends up in a fight. after a while you get the " whatevers. because it just isn't worth it anymore. some of you women take all the fight out of a man and that is just wrong, and then you complain about what you have created.
