Many historians have pointed out that ironically the American Revolution had more of an affect on Britain than on the U.S. The U.S used the Magna Carta and British Bill of Rights as a foundation for the U.S government with an enlighten-ism influence. So the new U.S government was not very revolutionary.
However Britain after the 'American Fiasco' underwent a massive reformation of the countries infrastructure, armed forces, and finances. The British Empire shifted it's focus to the Orient, Canada was founded by Loyalists fleeing the new U.S, Australia was founded as a new place to send Convicts.
The Revolution also accelerated the Abolition of Slavery in the Empire as the American Colonies had been the center of opposition.

The basic principles of government and society were established during the Revolutionary War period, although some of them have not been fully realized, still, the idea is there.
Some of these ideas include: No taxation without representation; the rule over the people; the removal of a hereditary class system; the concept that all people are created equal; the idea that the greatest thing we have to fear from our rulers is tyranny.
That's a pretty good start. These were all ideas and ideals that were fairly new in the 1770s, but are taken for granted today.

yeah, the revolution made the first democracy, and showed people that you don't need a king or a queen to rule, and that the people can vote for leaders themselves, everyone is equal, the people have a voice (for the first time in history) peoplhave basic human rights, and more, and a goverment that supports them. Its not pefect, but uts the best and longest lasting government based on the voice of the people.
Without all of the sacrifices made in 1776, there wouldn't be a government with equal rights (sort of) for everyone, and other countries would not have dared try to govern themselves. The American Revolution revolutionized the way government and countries were run, adn because of that, today there are lots of countries that give people basic human rights and let them have a voice in how they will live.
