Anyone who makes everything a racial issue is only promoting racism. As long as the idea of a "black community" exists, there will be separation and racism in America.

No. Al Sharpton is a harm to the black community. I, being a white person in the south, have seen this firsthand. Al Sharpton is the equivalent of the boy who cried wolf. He claims that everything is discrimination against black people, even in cases where it clearly isn’t. Therefore, when a black person has a legitimate claim of discrimination and they come to be associated with Mr. Sharpton, many white people automatically turn their backs and dismiss the person’s allegations. Al Sharpton is an idiot.

The NAACP is actually having to lay off workers and close offices due to lack of membership. Which to me shows an improvement in the ability of this nation to "get along" the black american is seeing that the NAACP is not doing anything anymore but trying to stay alive by creating problems that dont exist anymore. No more so than any other type of discrimination to every other person in this country. I think al sharpton is holding onto something that makes him money to be able to continue making money off of fears and hatreds that are no longer in this country on a large scale.

He does seem to be a leader in the black community and has been one for many years. I believe he has alienated a lot of non Blacks with his talk, but I assume his goal to keep himself at the top. He is a politician, and I think most politicians have the primary goal to be re elected and help their voters.... He is no different.
I think the anger in the rap music which consumes some young people is far worse than anything the Rev has done.

i dont care if everything he does is a racial issue. As long as it helps us as blacks makes me feel like its some form of hope. Especially since everything that goes on in this world is based around race but on the hush-hush, down low. You probably gotta be black to understand.

He does it to keep the media paying attention to him. I don't think he is helping the black community, and I don't think he speaks for the majority of black people most of the time.
