He was working on his truck and ripped it open on the windsheild wiper. it's pretty deep, and a huge chunk of skin is ripped (but still connected enough to heal back or whatever) but we think part of the muscle was also ripped and is hanging out... we're putting anti-ifection stuff on it and putting a bandage on it. Is there anything else we should do? Like, put the muscle back inside, or something? Help, please. (And don't just say "go to the doctor!" Duh...)

let me explain a little bit first... we're gonig to get professional help, but it seems like a bad idea to have his finger muscle hanging out while we take him there.

This injury needs immediate medical attention. Go to an urgent care center. Open wounds to the fingers are very susceptible to infection and this injury needs to be properly cleaned and bandaged with sterile dressings. If he severed nerves, or tendons they need to be re-attached or forever have problems with that finger.

There is a time limit on how long a wound can be open before you cannot sew it shut.
You need to get to the hospital in a timely matter if you want the wound to heal under the best condition. If you wait too long worrying about what to do with the muscle, then they will have to leave the wound open, and you will have to worry about packing the wound and taking care of the drainage, there will be a greater chance of infection, etc.
Get to the hospital, then they will do what needs to be done with the muscle.

cover it with something soft and protective, like a gauze pad, and GO GET HELP RIGHT NOW!!!!!
Go to the emergency room, a doctor's office, a doc-in-the-box, or whatever, but go. He's risking a serious infection by waiting, as well as the loss of that muscle, which means the loss of function in that finger. And that could lead to gangrene, which might mean amputation.
Go, you silly idiot, GO! NOW!

Your brother will need to go to the hospital to get the muscle back inside. There is NO WAY that it can be put back in at home and without a doctor or surgon present.

Wrap it in sterile gauze. If you don't have gauze a paper towel will work and apply gentle pressure.
I wouldn't push anything back in because you could cause more damage.

What makes you think you ought to treat this at home with recommendations from strangers online who may not be who they claim to be (like doctors or nurses).
This needs professional medical attention.

you need to wrap it in a damp cloth to keep it moisturized and then go straight to the hospital. don't touch it your hands have bacteria on them that doesn't need to be in his body, it was good that you washed it out now just go to the hospital
