Wow... No I would NEVER give my or any baby soda in there bottle or elsewhere....
~ terrible and damaging to their stomachs
~ bad for there teeth
~ too much sugar...very unhealthy etc..
~ lots of ingredients that I cannot even pronounce in soda
I would have been appalled in your position..LoL- except I'm the type that would have let her know exactly how I felt and what harm she was causing her baby... I also would have mentioned it to the doctor... as she simply may have been uneducated or unaware of the negativity of soda for a baby and he could have helped her understand that...

I would never, ever do that! The other day I saw my grandmother give my son soda in a sippy cup and almost had a heat attack. I asked her what she put in the bottle, and she said "coke, why?" I told her that he was way too young to be having soda (he is 9 months) and she pretty much laughed it off. Needless to say, I took the coke away, my son burst into tears, and my grandmother was mad at me. I know that she didn't mean any harm, but really...coke for a 9 month old? I don't think so!
This came from a grandmother who told me my son wasn't old enough to eat fruit at his age, go figure right?

Not a snowballs chance in you-know-where that you'll ever catch me giving a baby soda. Watered down tea would be about the only thing I might go with. The thing with sodas to me is that they're highly sugary, loaded with caffeine, and not good on the urinary system. Also, they're basically empty calories, so they're not nutritious at all. In my opinion, there's no reason for a small child to be drinking sodas.

OMG--how horrible a mother is she?? I don't even let my toddlers have soda, much less when they were only 6 months old! Totally empty calories and way too much sugar, not to mention that he's filling up on the pop and probably drinking less formula/breast milk.
I know when I was a child (5 and older) my mom used to give me ginger ale when I had an upset stomach, but that was it. Infants + soda = BAD PARENTING and a potentially ill baby with a nasty upset stomach!

The reason, my dear, was stupidity. My husband had this problem with his son. His ex-wife would give him soda, and he wouldnt drink anything else. Hubby used to pour juice and milk into washed out soda bottles just to get him to drink it!
You should see the dental bills this 5 year old has. It breaks my heart.
The most I have done is to give my 8 month old about 2 drops of Sprite out of my straw. How anyone can actually give their babies soda to drink like that is beyond me.

Nooo!! Baby shouldn't drink soda. Especially because it'll give them too much sugar and will rot their developing teeth. Some parents don't care or they are not informed. Also some soda contain artificial sweeteners that can damage the nervous system.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe she would do that! No, that's not a good idea at all! My son's 17 months and still hasn't even had a sip of soda. There's so much sugar not to mention caffeine. Not good for the baby. Poor kid.

My neice did the same thing with her daughter. Her teeth turned black and she soon realized how bad it was for her. There is to much sugar in sodas, there is no reason anyone should give there baby cokes. It's not healthy and it can ruin there smiles, and everyone knows that a babies smile is the most precious thing to see.!

*lol* I rarely give my 15 month old juice, all he usually gets in his CUP is water. (He is breastfed).
Of course I am *that mom* letting him eat the whip cream off my startbucks frozen more calories than I need in a day drink. And *occaisionally* letting him sip a bit from the straw. (which is usually decaf because I am pregnant).
I'd think any brown pop at 6 months would give the kid a stomach ache, probably any pop would but the caffinated stuff seems to be worse for heartburn to me anyway.
