there are a few universal human traits, all people all languages. like crying... all english speakers (australian, canadian, u.s.) groan at puns. is that a universal human trait? i mean, do people do it in other languages? like, chinese, russian, french... and so on?

Definitely. I've heard it done in several languages, both at puns and really lame jokes.

The Oriental groan sounds a little like a yelp, but yes, the groan is a universal human trait that generally follows a pun or a "no-so-funny" joke.
