Yes, sometimes unconditional love doesn't work. I think it hurts the most because you love them to much. I'm emotionally fragile a lot of times and take to seriously my relationship with my kids. Sometimes I feel that I am getting payback for how I treated my Dad. My parents were divorced when I was two and my Dad didn't have much to do with me so I sort of put him aside. It was wrong what I did and have no way of making up for it because he died a few years ago. We did patch up our differences eventually. What bothers me to this day is I don't know if he loved me. So many times we get so selfish about our own emotions and forget about the feelings of our loved ones.

we are the most vulnerable to the ones that we love the most, hense the reason they can hurt us so badly. The answer is not to cease to love but to use the pain to make us stronger as a metal worker uses fire or intense heat to temper the blade of a fine sword. Because we have no real choice but to bear the pain we are given, I choose to use it to increase my power or strength. You can too friend. Find your center and go from there. Good Luck. Blessed Be.

people that you love the most have the ability to hurt you more than people you don't care about. they get closer and mean more to you so it hurts worse when they do something to you. if it's someone you don't really know or care for it's not as personal and it's not really breaking any trust.
"loving someone is giving them the ability to hurt you...but knowing that they won't"

Yes. Sometimes in life you get betrayed by someone you know personally and it hurts more than anything else.

Of course, just because you care about your relationship more. I mean, imagine it: someone you don't know calls you mean or someone you really care about calls you mean. What would be more hurtful to you?
