Why is it that the Congress does nothing about the high cost of gas?. BTW, I do know the price of milk. Milk is not the point. Working class Americans take a cut in pay if it cost more to get to and from work. That has nothing to do with the cost of milk.
We use 145 billion gallons of fuel each year. 70 percent of oil that is imported is used in Autos.

BTW, it seems some people do not have both Oars in the water. We do not lease out this land. We export some of our oil at Higher prices. We also have many wells capped now, look it up. We have the oil we just can't refine it fast enough to meet demand. That is deliberate in order to keep the price higher.
Congress should cap the gas price.. Congress could also pass a 20 percent tax on SUVs.

What can Congress do to lower the price of gas or lower our dependence on foreign oil? In a free-market economy, it is up to consumers to set prices and trends. Drive less, buy more fuel efficient vehicles, and change your habits. That is the best way for you to save money on gas. If everyone did this, the demand for gasoline would decrease and the price would decrease as well.

They don't "give" the land, they lease it, and typically when a barrel of crude breaks $30 the government rakes in royalties.
Also, the more oil US companies are able to drill in the US, the less we need to rely on foreign oil. It is in our best interest.

Oil under government land ,great, let's drill and cut the imports.
While we're at it let's build a few refineries and cut the taxes on gasoline.
The oil leases will help cut the deficit too.

will is that not the pot calling the kettle black, liberals worry about land that as you say big oil might be using to drill for oil to reduce the 70% of foerigen oil imported, thus reducing the cost gas,by reducing shipping cost from middleast oil fields, but you have no problem in making working class americans take a pay cut to support lazy democrat voters, and illegal mexican citizens, with welfare benefits which are supported by the american working class tax deductions from their paychecks?

Its better to give to US oil companies than give the land to illegal immigrants
One makes money and you can choose not to buy from them while the later takes money without you knowing it.

They have used the trick about raising the minimum wage. now people have more money to buy gas. Problem is, only about 7% earn minimum wage.

It might have something to do with money changing hands. It would probably make William Jefferson look like he was running a lemon aid stand.

Because the oil companies give them so much money.
Congress is corrupt. That goes for both parties.
