My ex housemate cancelled the broadband without a MAC and I cannot retrieve this code from AOL, how long will it be before I can join BT Broadband without a MAC?

Sadly looks like your in for the 30 day wait before BT can legally touch the line with a view to reinstating broadband.I had the same issue with another supplier and i had to wait the full term.Luckily my next door nieghbour let me jump on his wireless connection while my service was down so the impact on not having broadband myself was limited.You can also contact ofcom and they will help but even that takes them 28 days before they will act.In the first instance you need to hound the old supplier to get the line cleared down asap so that there are no tags left on the line,otherwise when you go to bt they will just say sorry but we cant do a thing all the while someone elses tag is still on the line(thats the law)..be lucky

I thought the MAC code (good for 30 days) was purely for billing purposes. Seeing your now out of contract with AOL I would think BT would sign you up in a matter of 10 days or so. If there was any remaining time on the contract you must expect to pay for it. Probably best to phone and get the details off BT
