Politically wrong: I don't understand your answer. Are you stating it was 'LEGAL' or do you believe it was 'RIGHT'. Clearly I think it was illegal and wrong for a mountain of reasons....

Tony L: Yes!!!! Sadly money has consumed much of humanity. I don't believe, however, it is too late for common sense to prevail..( I nearly said decency, but I realised I would have been then considered to be a lunatic - but I do believe most people are more than decent, but sadly they are being twisted and ensnared.

Mick and Voice of Reason: I'm sure you are decent chaps, but why can't you see the damage done to England by Thatcher >Blair> Haven't you heard how Brown is desperately admitting guilt - so is Alastair Campbell too. It's not enough to feel cosy. The only friend of England and the world is someone will continue to question and not be an infernal YES person!!!!!

eastern_eu: You ask a fair question and one that I can't fully justify in giving - based on reliable intelligence over tinted spectacles. All I can answer to you is that in my honest opinion (and that of many others) we are suffering far more since after the second world war. I don't propose to give you a dissertation on the issue. However it would be remiss of me not to point out my question. This meant to raise the ugly spectre of incresed violence, alienation (social and spiritual), massive growth in debt, attack on farming and fisheries, dumbing down in education, corruption, greed.....,etc. We will soon see the true impact of the above- as if the present isn't enough proof. Thanks for your answer and question and please accept that i can't explain what i see as the present crisis in detail.

eastern-EU. For Orwell 1984 is the nightmare I feel has come true. Immigration: I am not anti immigrants, bar those who have come in mass to hate us. I am anti racist, so why should we accept people who hate whites come and stay here? And there are many who do. Why does a failing Government attack the spiritual identity of our nation - they do. I would like to see a peacefully integrated country, but New Labour have done as much as any foreign enemy to ensure we are in for a long period of disaster. Trust me, when i say I would like to think I'm wrong - but I just don't believe I am.

Crime way out of control, only this week a failed Asylum seeker who should not be here has killed a policemen. Black on Black crime, shootings, tax by stealh, dumbing down of education, no gold reserves left, illegal wars, British troops getting shot at, billions over spend on Wembley and the future Olympics, millions of illegal and foreign workers living here, taking up the housing stock and other infra structure, muslims blowing themselves up, everyone shi@ting on the way of life in the countryside, Students getting thousands in debt, thousands of scrounges cheating the system. Life isn't great, People still live in poverty in the UK.
It does not have to be like this. If we had a decent opposition, but there are lots of things wrong with this government. Lets hope Gordon can do better and Mr Cameron gets his wishy washy **** into gear.

There has never been a single war in which the British were involved, which was not in dispute and/or disagreement.

It seems obvious to me that from the very outset a very high percentage of people in UK were against what they saw as an illegal war in Iraq.

At the time, all I could think of was doing as much as possible to help the Americans. 9/11 was still very fresh in my mind and all that it meant to me! Damn those bastards. New York is not meant to be bombed, not ever. Get them.

The outcome of the war in Iraq is not good. I am now of the opinion that we should find a dignified exit strategy and go down that route.

I have already explained to one strongly militaristic American, with whom I have much sympathy, that "he who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day."

The NEWS is never good. No NEWS is GOOD NEWS, so the saying goes. News agencies and the media in general are struggling to maintain audience ratings and readerships. The media moguls demand more blood and stories of blood and so it goes. The more hideous the death and the higher the death toll, the bigger the audience.

We're just a dumb bunch of newsaholics.

Spartak, could you show me, please, any other period in your country's history, when the so-called British everyman had better life?
Semisatanic1: yes, this war is not right, but, is it the only war like that your country has participated in? What about the Opium Wars, for example?

Update:
You are very welcome:)
Since the WWII, you said? I would disagree, though. Look, for example, at the life lenghth expectancy in, say 30's and any time after WWII, maybe apart from the very short post-war period. Working-class life in Victorian times. Read Charles Dickens novels. Interwar period - 'The Road to Wigan Pier' by George Orwell. I am sure none of you, contemporary working and middle class Brits, would like to live your lives and work as they did... Social welfare state - that is one of the achievements of the post-WWII UK, which has paid most to your today's living standards. I am sorry to say that, but immigrants have done a lot to create that.

Good economy

Good investment in key areas

Minimum wage

Sounds ok to me. Mick

EDIT::: Sparty, I'm not a yes person, I'm a 'will pay my house off early' person. 10 years of good economy has given my family a comfortable living. Many of the things Labour has done have given lots of people good livings. Would you rather 4 million out of work, or people working for £2 an hour. Or schools and hospitals closing down. Labour will never be perfect, none of em will be, but their record is far better than any Tory mob. And their ideals far better than the likes of the BNP.

Next time your in the polling booth, vote Labour! Do it for the working man..... Mick
