Here's a really good fantasy book you would love!
Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer! They're the best fantasy books out there yet!

You can go library or a used book store and buy the series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, yes of the TV show Little House fame. She was a real person and her books are mixed reality with love/fantasty. As an adult I enjoyed them.

Also try Stephen King's "Cell" which is fiction mixed with fantasy about using a cell phone. A little scarey but not realistic.

If you like romance try Nora Roberts books. Several were made into movies for cable TV.

Additional, you may find the original and the followup books on Helen Keller. The Miracle Worker was also made into a movie. She was blind and deaf but not retarded and became a best selling author, a diplomat, and a avid Communist.

During the school year i read the series Pendragon. Im sorry but i forgot the authors name.

But its about a young boy who Travels between worlds, to save them from the bad guys. Its an amazing read, and pretty fast. I Believe there are 6 or more total books, and they all lead into one another, so the story keeps on going.

I actually started with i believe the 5th book which was Pendragon: The Jungles of Elong, and i caught on very quick of what was happening, so it is an easy read, and you;ll probably enjoy it.

I also enjoyed the Eragon series (cant wait to read the third book) and also the Charlie Bone series.

Both books were decently long, but easy reads, so you should have a problem.

A really great book I'm reading now is "Scavenger" by David Morrell. This book stems from his last book "Creepers" which is another fine read. It's a real page turner and easy to read. It's one of those you want to stay up all night to finish, but also don't want to finish it because you won't have anything as good to read. I also enjoy Jeffery Deaver, Dennis Lehane and Lee Child, whom, in my opinion they are the holy trinity of thriller writers! I am a avid reader in this genre and have read Coben, King, Koontz, F. Paul Wilson, and many others but none can touch the three I've listed! The Deaver book I'm reading now is The Sleeping Doll--a brand new release and is literally keeping me up at nights!! I'm quite sure you'll love his other thrillers as well, such as The Bone Collector, A Maiden's Grave, The Coffen Dancer, Praying For Rain, Cold Moon, The Twelveth Card, The Vanished Man, Devel's Tear drop et el. For Lehane, start with A Drink Before War (don't let the title fool you) then Darkness Take My Hand, Sacred, Gone, Baby Gone, Prayers For Rain, Shutter Island and Mystic River. For Lee Child, you can start with his first and move forward, but it's Ok if you don't. Some personal favs are: One Shot, Trip Wire, Hard Luck and Trouble--a new release, The Persuader-my personal fav, The Hard Way, but they are all page turners! Let me know what you think. Greg

First, I agree about the Margaret Haddix books. Then, there's The Hobbit. Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh by O'Brien is good. Terry Pratchet has the Discworld series if you like very funny fantasy. He also has a YA trilogy about elves who steal trucks and get into other such trouble. Don't remember who wrote Gremlins Go Home! but its easily found at Borders. The Tripod Trilogy by Christopher is good. The Warlock In Spite Of Himself by Christopher Staffesh is excellent. Another Fine Myth by Robert Asprin is also excellent and very funny. If you haven't read the Wrinkle In Time series by Madame L'Engle you need to. For realistic fiction try Forever by Peter Hamill. Its a love story but it is almost historical fiction and almost science fiction. Very...complicated, but beautiful. Try Andre Norton's Witchworld series. That's a classic. And Robert Heinlein's Podykane of Mars. Good reading!

Why dont you try science fiction. Something new would definitely get you to kill some time. I suggest Foundation series by issac asimov. You can begin with the triology
Foundation
The foundation empire
Second foundation

and then go ahead and read the extended series. There are 7 books in all and all are a great read with very interesting plot.

If you like reading non-fiction, about what goes on nowadays - I recommend these two -

1) "Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader"
written by Bradley K. Martin

2) "Rogue Regime"
written by Jasper Becker

These two well-written books give an insight about the North Korean Government.

Fiction?

Try all the books written by Clive Cussler.

The hero is Dirk Pitt, with his sidekick Al Giordino. These are well-written.
