If you're on a Windows machine, change your keyboard to US-International, then hit ~n any time you want an ñ or ~N any time you want an Ñ. Detailed instructions are here:

If you're on a Mac, hit option-~, then n or N. Detailed instructions are here:

Don't use ALT keys. The above way is better.

You can open Character Map by clicking Start, pointing to Programs, pointing to Accessories, pointing to System Tools, and then clicking Character Map.

Also the code for that charater is ALT+0241 - ñ (I needed to use the number pad to get that to work).

you mean a tilde like in Spanish? hold down the alt key and type 164 to get ñ. or alt 165 for Ñ. use the keypad on the right, not the number at the top of the keyboard.

What language are you trying to write?

If it's Spanish, it's called "Enye" (phonetically spelled), ñ which can be made by pressing alt + 164. that's pressing and holding alt while typing 164.

Okay... if you're looking to do that in html:
ñ=ñ
Ñ=Ñ

If you are trying to type it on the key board...
ñ=(alt+165)
Ñ=(alt+164)
