A lot would depend on the coloring and size of the bird. Bright color, such as red or blue, would mean good fortune. A drab bird would mean something is coming to a close, while a dappled bird would mean something's about to start. Small birds mean blessings, while large birds are omens of bad luck. It's bad luck to have a bird inside your home so if it hit a window and was fine, it did the job it was sent to do, and that was deliver a message.

It doesn't matter how the bird got there, the fact that it did is all you need to know. Portents and omens are often about observing nature and natural to unnatural occurrences. A Hummingbird is a beautiful thing and in your case it was out of it's natural environment and in your home, this is a classic "Omen" but one you will be pleased to know is of a good nature. In folklore birds are said to be able to foresee events that are yet to take place, many cultures believed that birds created the universe, the Raven brought form and order to the cosmos from the void, a Stork carried the soul of a newborn child from the Hall of Souls etc. Different birds meant different things to different cultures. A baby Hummingbird in the house is said to be indicative of new beginnings and chances to start again. Some people believe that its presence may be a sign that a fatherly spirit has acended to help in current issues within your life. The bird was a fledgeling so be prepared to be fledged into a new way of living. In general it is a very good omen. There may also be an indication that someone close to you may have fertility issues. As a Totem, i.e a type of Spirit Guide, the Hummingbird may well represent a new spiritual awakening and a time of prosperity within your life. On the whole the presence of the bird within your home is a message to stop worrying about other people and concentrate on the things that you want !

That your windows are too clean or too reflective.

If your windows are closed, the bird of happiness attempted to deliver good luck to you, but you barred it from doing so. Something is preventing good fortune from reaching you.

If the windows are open and the bird flies in, then you have been delivered a message of good luck and love and a blessing for the future.

There is an old wives tail that says if a bird flies into your window or in your house someone close to you will soon die.But its just an old wives tale so i wouldn't worry about it.Maybe the bird just got blinded by the sun.

We have a bird hit our sliding glass door about once a month and we haven't had deaths or any noticeable changes in our luck (good or bad). I believe that there must be a reflection that disorients them. I had a sparrow die just this morning, it ran into the door so hard that it sounded like someone closed the car door. Poor thing suffered for about 15 minutes. I prayed over it, blessed it and it went home to God. We all believe what we want. I believe there is the circle of life, we all have our time. God Bless.

It means they made a boo boo. Birds sometimes see their own image and unfortunately fly towards the image in the windows, windshields, etc. to ward off outsiders in their territory air space, hence breaking their neck up on impact.

I have witnessed birds flying after bugs, etc. and hitting windows because they were not watching out for the window, not sure their lil bird brains decifer danger like that.

They only focus in on what is important...the food.

Birds often see reflections of the outdoors on windows and have no idea there is anything there... it's really sad but it happens all the time.
