With all the debate about gay marriage out there, my two cents was always that polygamy will be next. Guess what, it is.
Once you say marriage doesn't have to be one man/one woman, the floodgates are open. Polygamy even has a better argument than gay marriage: at least polygamy has been around since ancient times and is considered a religious practice. This country is going to Hell in a handbasket.

Actually it was polygamy first - then gay marriage - if you are going to rant about stuff at least be correct!

I am so sick of the arguements against gay marriage. God forbid that we say it is wrong for someone to show there love, dedication, and committment. And then the old stand by---What will be next, polygamy, men and women wanting to marry children, trees, or dogs and so on and so on. And how come when the religious "right" start speaking so fondly of marriage they forget to mention the important part that is in the bible also about divorce. Could it be that 99.9% of Christians have been divorced????? HMMMMMM..
I am a Christian and I am gay, and guess what, historically there have always been gay people and there will be in the future too. The only difference is how we are treated. Hey I know, why not bring back the lions, oh wait, that was for the Christians. I can see why people today are growing to dislike Christians and it makes me sad. So keep on with your judgemental attitudes and exclusions and don't worry because you are doing exactly what the bible predicts. Causing worldwide hatred towards Christianity. The sad part is I can not help but question your Christianity which I know is not my place.

Homosexuality has been around since ancient times.. even some animals have been known to be homosexual. And who says there's anything wrong with polygamy anyway? I say, as long as all the people involved in the relationship are informed and happy with things then who's to say it's bad? It's not good to have one partner and lie to them also be seeing someone else... but if there are more than two people who all want to have a relationship. Hey go for it!

The practice of polygamy is not a bad practice in theory. What is wrong with it is the forced enslavement and sexual abuse of minor children and women who are not in consent. Polygamy is still practiced successfully in several cultures, but of course if its not American, I'm sure that doesn't count in your world.

Marriage is a legal contact recognized by law between two partners of sound mind and legal status. What that has to do with your religion is beyond me. I don't practice your religion, and I would not tell you what to do. But yet you feel that is your responsibility to do to me because somehow you feel threatened.

I am a middle aged woman who grew up in a middle class household where mom stayed at home and dad went to work. We were not weathly but never wanted for anything. There was no drinking, drugs or physical/sexual abuse in my home. My folks just celebrated their 50th and my siblings who married have long marriages and healthy kids. So marriage to me is the logical beginning to a relationship that commits itself to love, nurturing and everlasting monogamy. I have that relationship with a woman. I don't want to simply live with her, I want to marry her because that's how I was raised. People in love who commit their souls to one another, marry.

This country is always "going to hell in a handbasket" when it butts heads with doing what's right. It has done it every single time there has been a social change that is morally right and we as a nation demand it. I may not live long enough to see this country accept sexuality the same way it has done for race and gender, but my daughters will.

What's wrong with polygamy?

GAWD -- people are always trying to tell other people what they can and can't do.

I have no problem with polygamy so long as everyone is of legal age to enter into a marriage contract.

If people would just learn to mind their own business once in a while the US would be a better place.

both need to be allowed. Both gay and polygamy relationships are natural and happen all of the time throughout history.

I won't be getting married but none of you can stop me from haveing 3 Boyfriends at once. And I'm a guy!

I don't see how one equates with the other. Not only is this illogical, it's just plain stupid. Polygamy has been around literally for centuries. It's nothing new. Get over it.
Even polygamists get all the perks of marriage that are denied to gay people. To see the two as similar is just plain ignorant.

I agree with teh_flea.. if it is consenting, it doesn't really matter what people do with regards to their love life. I've heard compelling arguments as to people who are polyamorous in nature. Some people feel that to confined to one person is against their nature. And really, when you look at history and animals and etc, it's seen in many places as a natural thing. And it's my honest opinion that it happens in people more than most think, which is part of the reason cheating happens and thus leads to divorce.

And truly, this country is only going to hell in a handbasket because of those who try to control the American people and restrict their right to freedoms and real happiness.

you're actually precise. something between consenting adults is superb. infants transforming into up in the type of enjoyed ones might go through no unwell consequence and can be no diverse than some families that have the nuclear kinfolk in a similar domicile. If something, infants strengthen up with greater accountability and experience of objective. it extremely is a shame that folk think of approximately gay relationships alongside with polygamous relationships and equate it to intercourse and lust. in my view, i think of everybody who has greater desirable than one spouse could be a masochist (one is adequate for me) yet that does no longer propose that i'm precise. the only factor that i might additionally upload is that it would could be the two utilized with women allowed to have greater desirable than one husband could they desire. it would seem that those that prefer to oppose such marriages are in worry that could they be allowed such issues that they might rush out and marry somebody of a similar gender. in basic terms in view which you're able to do it, does no longer propose you may do it. I relatively have yet to work out a pragmatic argument against such marriages.
