Overall, I'd say my life has been an 8. Got pregnant at 17 and moved across the country with my in-laws. Was divorced at 36 and got custody of 4 children. Became a psychiatric nurse, which meant going to school 5 days a week and managing the house. Was raped by 4 Hells Angels my first year as a working mom. Have undergone gallbladder surgery, along with hernias and obstructed bowels. Not all at the same time. Topped it all off with a brain anuerism which forced me to retire early. Probably should mention I had to sell my car because the IRS sent me a bill for $12,000. and I had the fun of riding buses for 8 years. Today, I had to sell my car because I have blackouts and I suffered nerve damage after the brain surgery, so I use a walker. And you know what? It's ok. I survived. My son gave me this computer and my daughter takes care of the laundry and cooking. I have good days and bad days, but I still enjoy singing and music and animals. Maybe I should lower the 8 to a 5 or something.
Thanks for the question.

I have to give my life a high 8. I want to say 10 but I know that there are others who have it just as bad or worse. For years I was sexually abused by a cousin, my parents divorced when I was 12. Mom raised myself, and 4 younger brothers on a measly 45 dollars a week and a schoolbus driver's pay. Food stamps ensured that we always had food. Dad bought a hull of a trailer that had caught fire and burnt off the master bedroom at the end, and that is what we called *home*. Dad was an alcoholic, and we watched him abuse Mom. Saw him slap her glasses off her face, twist her arm behind her back and sprained it, pulled a gun on her twice, both times injuring my oldest brother. In seeking comfort and love..at the age of 18 I found myself a high school graduate, pregnant and alone. I went into toxemia and started having seizures. Did an emergency c-section to save my baby..and her heartbeat was 300beats per minute. For 3 days doctors weren't sure if either one of us were going to make it or not...but God had a grander plan for us. Been married 3 times, and all failed....they weren't right for me and I refused to live as my Mom had, and subject my children to the same abuse I had witnessed as a child. I am 45 yr.old and for the first time in my life...I can see positive things happening and a change for my betterment is on it's way.
